Default Code Singing - Multiple Applications

Please Login to Remove!

I went to - BlackBerry - Controlled APIs and Code Signing
where i found that "An administration fee of $20.00 (USD) will be charged".

But I didn't find anything about:

* Is this one time payment and from then on I can develop as many applications as I want? Or it's for a single applicion.
* Is there other charges as well along with this "administration fee"

Thanks for the reply.

Today i also recieved a reply from BB Dev Support.

---------------------------------------------

1. What is the signing procedure?

The signing procedure is that a set of signature keys are purchased, then processed by our organization. Once my team receives the processed order, we will issue the signature keys to the email address provided on the form.
Once you have received them, you register all three csi files received, then you sign your application.

2. How long will it take to sign my code?

To obtain the BlackBerry JDE signature keys can take 2 to 10 business days to fully complete the order.

3. Can I sign multiple applications (completely different applications) using a single license OR for each I have to buy a separate key.

Numerous applications can be signed using the same set of signature keys.
There are no restrictions on the number of applications you can sign or an expiry on them. Each time you compile/re-compile your application, the application must be re-signed prior to deployment on a BlackBerry handheld.

The only restriction in place is that each set of signature keys can only be registered onto one workstation, thus if you require signing ability on more than one workstation, then additional sets must be purchased.

4. How many times can I use my PIN for code signature?

The PIN number that is associated with the signature keys does not have to be tied to an actual BlackBerry PIN number as this can be any number that you select. You have the ability to purchase any number of sets of signature keys your require.

5. What are the charges for code signing?

Each set of signature keys is $20 US.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,
Jennifer Emery

Default Applicaion Signature

Hi Jennifer ,

I have a J2ME application which uses networking and messaging APIs.
Since my application's size is more than 130KB so I have converted it into three cod files (2 Lib and one main COD).

When I launch the application it asks for permission, how can I avoid it?

Do i need to sign my application though it is not using any of the RIM/Blackberry APIs (Only J2me APIs)?

If yes, then do I need to sign all COD files?

Jayesh

- you resurrected a month old thread to ask a nonrelated question?
- jennifer is member of the rim support team and was quoted.
- you sign to be able to use the signed classes. applications are something not related to signing. you can "avoid" it if you set the permissions on install or use a IT policy.

Somewhere its mentioned that 100$ is the fee required to be paid to RIM to sign the code. i am little confused between 20$ and 100$. Could somebody please explain what is the difference between them?
