Our BES server connect 100% fine with BlackBerry handsets. However when I try connect a non BlackBerry handset, Nokia or Sony Erricsson that have the BlackBerry service on the Hand Held Manager does not pick them up. Is it possible to connect them to the BES server?

- The server it’s self does see it.
- The Handheld Manager does not.

Some phones (I know Nokia does) have a BlackBerry Client. That's the only way you can get wireless email to them. You can't just plug them in and go.

So the client will only link with individual email accounts as apposed to the BES server that links to exchange?

Geez Guys, I would have expected a better standard of responses. Whilst the OP's original question wasn't that clear, I think posting here it's pretty obvious that he's looking for Blackberry Connect Information.

Blackberry Connect is a is the name given to RIM's licensing scheme which allows other manufacturers to include 'Blackberry Functionality' on their devices. Connect is a stripped down implementation of the Blackberry stack, and so does not support all of the product features that are available in Blackberry.

Assuming your devices have the BB Connect s/w available - then read the FAQ on getting it working on BES which is possible, easy or a PITA depending on the device you are using.

BlackBerry Connect - BlackBerryFAQ

Please note the limitations that are outlined in the FAQ, cos it's like 1/3 BB rather than full BB.

Ah I didn't understand the question, yes you have to use the Desktop Software that comes with the handheld to activate it.

So will the BlackBerry connect to an individual mailbox (SMTP), but not to an Exchange server? Of course the BlackBerry handsets I have connect with the Exchange (BlackBerry Handheld Configuration Tool) work fine. But connecting the Nokia with BlackBerry on is not connecting with the handheld.

Ok, thanks for the helps so far! I’ve got the software installed on the Desktop PC, not on the BES server. The software connects using the exchange profile. Done 100%, but on this SonyErricsson P990i I see no mails. I can connect to the internet, but I am receiving NO mail? any suggestions?
