Hi,

I have installed 5 BES servers and I am the only local admin. I want to know if there is any script or sofware or tool available that allow my HELP DESK to reset Enterpise Activation Password and Device passwords.

I'm running BES server 4.0

Do you know if 4.1 allows to set password permissions?

BES 4.1 allows role-based administration, where one of the most restrictive permissions groups will be allowed to do that from a remote installation of BlackBerry Manager. BES 4.1.4 (or 5.0) will include web-based administration.

As for BES 4.0, you'd want to utilize perl or some other scripting to utilize the BlackBerry Resource Kit, which does give you this ability through command-line.

I know there is a lot of work already done in PERL... I'm sure there must be several examples that can help me out, so I don't need to start from scratch...

Could you please point to somebody or someplace where I can find any example about it?

I'll see if I can alter our add/remove scripts for the password generation. It shouldn't be too hard.

For anyone else who may want this... in my environment, it's a perl script that runs on a Linux Apache server and uses RSH to connect to the BES, which is running an RSHD service.

You can modify the various syntaxes to accommodate the other functions of BBUserAdminClient.

Line 71: HTML Centered Page Header
Line 92: BESUserAdminClient function
Line 102: Run BESUserAdminClient from DOS command-line and copy some successful output from screen that differentiates it from an unsuccessful attempt (I typically use a correct email address then an incorrect email address)
Line 104: Successful Output Message (based on Line 102's output)
Line 108: Unsuccessful Output Message
