Default Alternative to using the sofwtare config to deploy DST Patch

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I see many issues deploying the DST patch to users using sofware config here. Everyone here seems to focus on this, but no one mentioned that there is another way to get the patch too.

You can also also give the user to the DST Patcher loader page:-
DST Patch Loader

Just load the page, connect device to PC using USB cable and apply the patch. Just thought that I share this...

Or easier even, send them an email and give them the link to Blackberry web site and have them do it themselves from their BB browser to do the update.

I agree, mendes9. I sent out an email to a group of 20 users with the link early this morning and I have some positive feedback. They asked why they are not given this simple method in the first place and that I have to go through all the hassle of calling them up many times to check on their devices; plus those 0x??? errors etc...

Of course, this method will work if your BlackBerry users have a PC or notebook with Internet access and the USB cable...

Thats a good solution IF (1) your users have the desktop client installed and (b) you give them the USB cable. I don't give them either. Everything is wireless for us.

This is good if your users can do the right thing. Some of them have some "guidance issues" in following directions. (Even directions that have pictures, circles and arrows!)

Hence, wireless deployment for us!

Our plan is do it yourself first and check to see if it's applied.

If you have problems call the help desk. Help desk sends someone over and applies the patch via pc method. I'm expecting 15% failures, from the DIY method, and a very small % to blow up completely, and need to reinstall OS on BB.
