We are moving alot of mailboxes to new Exchange 2007 servers - about 300 per night. Some of the users moved do not have BES service for a few hours after, in a few rare cases we need to restart BES or re-activate an individual blackberry. We are running 4.14mr5 currently.

In the past (back when we had 3.6 and 4.0 servers) we would restart BES after bulk mailbox moves. I'd like to start that practice on our production BES services, but limit this to key service restart, not a full restart or reboot.

so my question is - if i want BES to stop and restart all mailbox agents and reconnect to each mailbox, can i get away with just restarting the router and dispatcher services? does the order matter?

Just run the handhelpcleanup - u command and it will note the changes.

Tool is in installation folder under Utilities, I copy it to a root folder (blackberry) and run it weekly (as needed) to pick up changes

The BES should pick up the change about 12 mins after with the ScanGAL function. It should stop the user and start them up again. But they will most likly be started back up again on the same agent and if you are moving 300 users a night then I would think a restart would be a good idea.

Sorry did not read the full post.. Just a restart of the disp service. that is the service that tells the BES what agent to start the users on. I would also include the controller so the order would be.
