Hi everyone,

I just recently purchased the 8830 and I love this phone. I was a previous Treo owner, but I had innumerable issues, so it was only a matter of time before I became a Blackberry customer. Anyway, I am new to the Blackberry operating system/software. I was hoping someone could help me with an issue. As you all probably know, whenever there is a missed call and/or voice mail, the device automatically send you a missed call/voice mail text message. Is there anyway I can turn this feature off? I only want notifications of actual text messages. Thanks for your time.

I don't believe you can turn that off.

I've been told before that you need to contact your carrier and request that feature be disabled.

Mine doesn't actually send me a text, it just notifies me in the messages section. The icon for the message is a different color and everything.

Thanks for the information. One more question, if you all don't mind, do those missed call/voice mail SMS messages count as part of my allowance of SMS text messages per month? Basically, does it count against me? Thanks again.

I do not believe it does. Any messages regardless of type that is sent from your service provider is "on the house".

Go to Call logs, click Menu, choose Option, choose Call logging. Under the Show these call log types in Message list, check None, then click Back and choose Save.
It will still log your calls, but will not show in the Message list.

The Call logs notifications are "internal", just notify activities inside your phone and does not use your message allowance.
