Default Disable WiFi with a policy?

Please Login to Remove!

Is it going to be possible in future iterations of BES to disable the WiFi capabilities of the upcoming Blackberrys? My company is not very comfortable with WiFi on a handheld device.

We are currently running BES 4.0, but we are going to upgrade soon to 4.1.3.

Thanks

Depending on when you upgrade and what version you upgrade to, you'll want to review the Policy Reference Guide 4.1 SP4 ... or for your specific version to see what capabilities exist.

I would look to go to 4.1 SP4 rather than SP3 ... SP5 is looking to be released end of November (21st if I remember correctly)

Yes it is possible on 4.1.4.12

There is an option within teh WLAN policy group to disable WLAN, which will disable the use of WLAN on the device

I think support started with SP2; policy guide should confirm.

I might be mistaken but I wasn't aware of any wifi blackberry that would work outside an internal wifi network. If at some point that was a feature I would imagine the traffic would still be encrypted between BES and BB.
