Well yes, but required software is illegal to have, and making a mess means REAL bricked phone, rather than simple OS reinstall.

And since the 8830 doesn't have North American GSM bands on it, it's likely a waste of time.

How can you when the GSM frequencies do not support the North American bands as njblackerry pointed out.

Waste of time, money and effort.
