Default POP email question

Please Login to Remove!

Question for the blackberry gods-

I have a 8700c from Cingular that I just use for my personal email that is a POP email account that I get on Outlook on my desktop.

I love getting a copy of my emails on my berry.

However, is there a way to accomplish this -

When I receive an email on my berry, and delete it, can this email also be deleted off my desktop/server so that I dont have to delete the same email twice?

This is a newbie question... so thanks for your answers.

at this point in time - no
Cingular is using BIS 1.8 and deleting from the handheld will delete only from the BIS inbox

when Cingular goes to BIS 2.0 (unknown when this will happen) - and you choose to upgrade - email that you delete from your handheld will delete from your POP server

however if this email is already in your Outlook it will not delete

hope this helps

When BIS 2.0 is available, and you want to manage emails on the 8700, you can check the Leave Copy on Server in Outlook for the POP account. That way you can delete from the BB and still have a copy in Outlook.

Allegedly the BIS 2.0 upgrade for Cingular BB customers is occurring next Monday, June 5th however this has not been officially confirmed publicly.

What about simply not having Outlook poll the Servers until you are right beside your Computer? Would the messages not still be there? With BIS 2.0 I can delete on the handheld or handheld & 'mailbox'... and I am presuming that 'mailbox' means my POP Server.

OTOH, 'mailbox' may also mean Outlook 2K3 on my computer, but I cannot imagine how Blackberry would know what messages I had downloaded. Hmmm?

Yes this would work as well. In fact, I keep my Outlook opened all day at work and set the Send/Receive settings to no polling.
