Default Password incorrect!

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I got a 8700g on T-mobile. Used to run 4.1.something without issues. I recently updated my desktop software so i thought it to be a good idea to update the OS on the device as well.
Installed desktop manager 4.5 without issues. Downloaded OS 4.5.0.69 and installed without issues also.

Problem:
Password in General Settings under the security tab is Disabled. We change that to Enabled, Number of Password Attempts 2 and Security Timeout 2min. We save, asks for password twice, we enter a 4 char string, save, all good.

If we lock now the device and then try to unlock we get Password Incorrect errors. No caps/alt pressed when password entered (although tried in entry afterwards).

ooook, i say FSCK it, i got a backup, let's wipe it. Entered gfjegfjdfgfugfdgf chars and successfully wiped it.

Upon trying to enable a password for the second time the same thing happens. The perfectly correct (3 chars by now) password entered in setup does not get recognized entered after a device lock. Somewhere around there i suspect a firmware bug and i pick up 4.5.0.99. Same thing happens

Do you remember we mentioned earlier that we got the settings to Password Attempts 2? Good!! The reason i mentioned that is that if i keep entering the device password i configured, the phone keeps giving me Incorrect password! errors, stays locked, but doesn't wipe!! I suspect i can enter my configured password for ever and the same behavior would happen. (i tried some 26 times before i got bored)

Now if i DONT enter my correct configured password it prompts me to type blackberry, warns me that it gonna wipe if i enter the wrong pass again and eventually and predictably wipes.

It seems that it actually validates my entered password, it just doesn't unlock the device and gives Incorrect password! errors.

I've tried reboots, reinstalls, full battery charges and battery pulls, no go.

I work in gov, i do economic policy and i have important emails from important people in this thing. I just CANT walk around with a device that cannot be locked in my pocket.

I've tried number and letter, numbers only, letters only, single chars, same thing.
Any ideas?

Wow! no replies :( Guess i'm alone in this. :(

ok, plan B. Since everything else works as expected is there a third party locking application
someone could recommend that DOES NOT use the locking facility on the RIM software (which seems to be the mother of my problems).

Free, commercial, 10 bucks 20 50 100 i don't care.
