When I first installed our BES server last year, on a seperate server to Exchange 2003, I found a very useful guide on here which walked you through the steps involved and specifically what differed compared to installing it on the Exchange box itself, as RIM insist you have to in their official docs.
Now I'm in the situation of having to reinstall it all and I can't find the guide again for the life of me. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Why not install in as a virtual server in VMware Server? Vastly simplifies things and being able to snapshot the VM before applying a service pack can save some hair pulling.

VMWare is nice for BES ... and pretty much any other application servers
It's basically going on another machine which is a DC in the same domain as the Exchange server. Both are fresh installs of Server 2003 R2 with Exchange 2003, all service packed and patched up to the same level with the Exchange management tools installed on the BES box.
When I did this before, someone on here had produced a nice, simple walkthrough guide to installing BES, with all the requisite permissions that the BESAdmin account had to be granted, I just can't find it anymore :(
