Hi -

A friend of mine has a new 8700g. I helped her transfer her address book from her sidekick to her blackberry. Now she wants to email everyone (BCC) in her address book to let them know of her new blackberry address. She has about 125 contacts. Is there a way to select all in her address book rather than typing the first few characters of their name to pull them in?

STOP! Tell her not to give out her new BB address unless it is her only option and email address available. She needs to have a regular email provider like gmail or yahoo... and use Blackberry Internet Service to get the email to her BB .

No, you have to type each individually.

That brings up another question. I do have a regular email and using BIS to get the email for me. Speed is an issue here. How come it takes as long as 10 minutes for my email to come in, as opposed to instant if someone sends directly to my bb email address?

Push email is up to 15 mins. Then 2 mins if it finds mail, if not back back to the cycle. SMS and PIN are instant, as well the @xxx.blackberry.net address.

You will rarely every notice a difference. Some users can't stand the lag, others like me could care less.

If nothing else, forward your POP email to the blackberry address...

Why is it such a bad idea to give out the BB address?

because you can't manage the spam.

Have her use gmail. it does instant push mail. And then she mass e-mail everyone from the gmail web app. I think yahoo has this same push function too, but I am not positive.

Yahoo does also but their spam filter (on the free account service) is nothing compared to gmail's.
