Default Blackberry to Intranet sites

Please Login to Remove!

I know pretty much nothing about Blackberrys. I was once tasked with setting up a BES server about 2 years ago and have done that. The emailing portion of the service worked fine so i just left it alone and have touched it since really...except to add users.

Now we are wanting the Blackberry users to be able to access Internal Intranet sites. I have seen on the web that this is possible and if i have read correctly it uses MDS to be able to do this. I have checked our MDS services and they seem to be working but i can not access any intranet sites from my Blackberry 8800.

Can someone throw me a bone here and give me some guidence on this? What all do i need to make intranet connection work from the Blackberrys? Just MDS..are there certain things that need to be configured in the MDS or on the handheld itself? Firewall settings that need to happen?

No proxy server so dont have to worry about that.

Thanks for the info.

There's nothing you really need to configure.
If MDS-CS is installed and running, then it should "just work".

How are you trying to access the internal resources?
You need to use the BlackBerry Browser on the device. (Not the Internet or WAP browser.)

I use the Blackberry Browser and type in the http intranet site as servername.domain.int.. and it gives me a HTTP error saying it could not be found.

I see on the MDS server it gives a status as WARNING...how do i see what this warning is? All the services are running and the :8080 page shows that the MDS is connected.

Is there something i have to set for it to see internal Intranet pages?

OK, i have the intranet sites working now...its was my fault on something stupid that wasnt working before.

Im still curious if anyone can give me a idea of where to look to see why the MDS server is saying a status of WARNING.

Thanks
