Had a question re exceptions in a profile, and how they work.

If I have a custom ringtone for a contact, will clicking the box under "use active profile except for", apply that ringtone no matter what the profile is set up for?

For instance, if I click the box, and have the vibrate profile selected, the ringtone will still come thru, and not vibrate, for that contact when they call?

And for a "loud" profile, it will just use the ringtone, rather than the ringtone I select for that "loud" profile.

Is that correct?

Yes you get 2 options.... chose profile or profile and custom ring tone. You can set an exception that when on vibrate if an email comes from use profile loud. That way whatever the loud profile says to do it will do that for the message. There is another option to set a ring tone that must be used in conjunction with a selected profile that will just replace the default ring tone for the profile but you have to make sure that the profile you select has a volume set for the action you are adding an exception for.

No problem. It help if you are an on call person that you can leave your BB on night node but add exceptions from the boss number or system emails.

Thanks for clarifying this as I was ripping my hair out trying to sort out how I have a special ringtone play for a contact when on the "loud" profile, but then just vibrate, like everyone else would. I kept seeing that exception check box be checked for all profiles or none, so I now see what you are saying...the vibrate "trumps" the ringtone.

Yeah RIMs great idea to always vibrate first then ring.
