We currently have BPS 4.1 and are in the process of moving to BES 5. We did not get the upgrade, we got the full version to do a fresh install due to a promo.

After trying to remove a CAL from our BPS server, it is not taking it on our BES. Saying invalid key. When I started with the company they all ready had BPS. If they had something before that, I don't know and now there is no one around that would know.

Our BPS has 20 different single license keys for 20 users, and one key that was for 5 users that was recently purchased. The 5 user key, I was successfully able to load to the BES. The others, I am not.

Are there some keys that may not work for some reason, and can you tell by looking at the key? All keys start out BESCAL. Our wireless rep had sent us another key that started out BESX that worked.

Ideas???

BPS to BES 5.0 is unsupported. But the import of CALs should be ok.

had a confusing episode once with licences..

basically as i understand it:

BPS can accept BPS and BES licences
SBE (kind of an old BPS) can accept SBE licences

I think the problem may stem from BES supporting licences from the lesser products, which when you think about it makes some sense as networks often give away a bunch of licences, so for example 5x£60 ish a licence RIM would lose out a lot on BES full.

There is also an issue if you mix and match licence types. I would guess that you have a mix of full bes and bps licences and full bes, if you paid for the BPS licences and they arent working I would email RIM and see if they can sort out replacement licences.

There were a couple of licenses that did work... about 5 out of 20.

After talking with RIM, they looked up a couple of keys that did not work and told me that they were licenses for Small Business Edition. If we had upgraded these keys would have worked. Since we did not upgrade and did a fresh install, these keys will not work with BES.
