Default GPS on Unlocked 9530 on Tmobile

Please Login to Remove!

I have an unlocked 9530 I am using on tmobile. My questions is vznavigator on verizon costs 9.99 a month. When I am using it on tmobile where I have unlimited data, am I? (and if so) how am I being charged for gps?

Thanks

You do not pay for the use of the gps satellites. The data service is charged according to your data plan. The 10/mo you are paying for the software is for the privilege of using the application and the information it downloads and displays to you. You follow.

Not sure I get. I did not pay for the software. Are you saying that Tmobile will charge me $10 for vznavigator but there will be no monthly usage charge like there is on verizon?

If you are using a free navigation app, such as google or blackberry maps, you will not pay anything extra. Your data will be charged according to your data plan. If you are on tmobile with a blackberry data plan, you pay nothing extra; just your monthly fee for the blackberry data plan.

If you subscribe to a paid navigation app, you will pay for use of the app. You will not be using the verizon-branded product on tmobile, but there are other paid nav apps available. If you subscribe to one, you will be paying according to whatever the terms.

T-Mobile will not charge you for VZNavigator. That is a Verizon charge for Verizon customers.

I think the missing bit of understanding for you, hkozlovsky, is that tmobile does not force users to pay for a navigation app. The gps is not locked down in order to force you to pay for their app. There are free alternatives, if you like, or you can subscribe to the paid
app of your choice if you want.

Default If you're looking for GPS voice directions,

try using Garmin Mobile. $99 license with no monthly charges. Runs on data plan and works with EDGE 2G network pretty well for TMO. Using it on 9530 for a month and 6 months on 8900. Love it.
