So I have an icon for my email and one for my text messages. When I get emails it also gets sent to my text messages. How do I stop this? Thanks

I had this same problem. The only thing I have found is to goto message, hit the options button, view folder, and scroll to sms inbox. This will separate only the text messages.

You probably have a "Messages" folder and a folder that says "youremail@yourdomain.com". Everything goes to the "Messages" folder. Only your email goes to the email folder. There are other themes that have separate sms folders. I don't know which ones right off the top of my head. Give them a try and see if there is something that you like better.

Could it be under Email Reconciliation?

Delete on?
Wireless reconcile?
on conflicts?

I use the T-Mobile Zen theme that had to be unlocked using Jibbi's modified Blackberry.alx file. This theme has the same name as the default T-Mobile Zen theme but this one has a separate SMS And MMS folder.

What is the name of the icon on the home screen that has the messages where you don't want them? Is it "Messages?" If so, there is no way around this without changing themes. Use the advice of denness544 above. Load the other themes and try them. There is one theme that has a separate SMS and MMS folder. Other than that you CAN'T change that. It's just the way it is.

I'm using the Zen theme and it has a message folder and an [email address] folder. That's my email address.

So I can make it work with the Zen theme and so I should try the other two themes? Thank you.

So now I switched to the Dimension Today theme. But now there's only a message folder. How do I add my email folder to the main screen? Thanks. Sorry for all of these weird questions, I just can't find answers anywhere else.

Which theme works? So far I've tried all three and it still gets sent to both the "Messages" icon AND the "blahblah@yahoo.com" icon.

Am I being charged since it's getting sent to my messages inbox as well and not just my email inbox? I don't have a txt messaging plan only a BIS unlimited data plan.

Thanks

You are not being charged extra. Your emails and text messages are just conveniently stored in one folder called the "Messages" folder.

You can unlock more themes by searching for the blackberry.alx edited files for themes. Sorry I couldn't post the link for you because I am a newbie.

That is NOT a dedicated SMS folder. If it's an email it's an email. Everything gets stored in the "Messages" folder. That's just the way it is. Your email gets a separate folder but the emails still go to both folders. You're worrying too much about it. If you find a theme that has a "SMS" folder, then use that. Most themes don't have a separate SMS folder.

Edit: I see your post said you don't even have an SMS plan. Emails will just show up in both folders.

Ok guys, this is getting the best of me.

I updated my OS. I downloaded the new blackberry.alx and platform.alx files.

I went to the directory and renamed the original blackberry.alx to 8100M_PBr4.2.0_rel88_PL2.2.0.41_A4.2.0.71_Cingular .exe

then what do I do from here? Someone please help me.

I'm not sure why you renamed the blackberry.alx to 8100M...etc. It shouldn't be named as a .exe file. Simply blackberry.old or something would have been fine. Anyway....

Make sure that on your device under Options >About that the software version shows 4.2.0.71. If it doesn't then you need to get the OS installed properly, first. If it does then continue with these instructions.

Delete the platform.alx you downloaded unless you are a cingular user and you use PTT (push to talk.)

Put the downloaded blackberry.alx where the original one was.

Connect the BB and run Desktop Manager/Application Loader. It should sense that there is a change to "4.2 Core Applications". follow the prompts to finish the installation.
