Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Yes, report it stolen to your carrier and ask them to lock it.

And you're saying you can't get it back from your "little" cousin? As usual, there must be more to the story...

Def call your provider to get the phone locked. That will teach your cousin a lesson about stealing.

I dont think it matters if the phone is locked or not. By locking it using the imei code no data or voice will go to it from the network.

Ditto. Sounds like one of those where there is more to the story than the OP is allowing... But at least he filed a police report and maybe the thief will be dealt with by professionals. Otherwise, sickmunkeyz should be keeping a close watch on his car and other belongings...

You don't know where he lives? Do you own a baseball bat? Do you know his mother?

I must be missing something here. All I see are solutions to this problem.

Update: I called his mother, he was kicked out the house last week on his 18th b-day. But he texted messaged my gf that he didnt want any trouble with the cops. Especially since his mother gave me his license plate number and i h got his cell phone number from my cingular bill online. Reported to tmobile that he is using a stolen phone and they blocked the imei number on there network. well he also said in the text message that he would return my phone today at 3 o clock....11am now. if my phone doesnt show i will prosecute and if he does show with my phone im going to beat his ass.

Your cousin needs a hug and a ear, not a beating.

No offense sickmunkeyz, but this story sounds so lame. Is your girlfriend acting as a negotiator? Why would you even trust this "cousin" in the first place? He seems like such a punk.

Do yourself a favor...the next time your phone get stolen by your cousin, leave the details out and just post like this, "My phone got stolen, what do I do?"

I am embarrassed that i have taken even a minute of my time to respond to this.

I would start with a beating, and THEN give him a hug and an ear.

That is two different things:

unlocking your phone to use with a different carrier has nothing to do with it (or you) being in a different country, or is locking your phone what you would do were yours stolen. Locking/Unlocking has to do with it being "locked" to the carrier which distributed or sold the phone.

If your phone were stolen, you would want it be "locked" from use, i.e., block out the device from being used again under your account, so you don't get charged and so the thief does not have use of the device.
