The other day I was wondering if its possible to paint the cover of the pearl? I was thinking of roughing up the surface so its not as slick or greasy feeling and then painting it flat black. I saw in another thread explaining how to take the phone apart, but I wasn't sure if anyone had any experience doing this?

I know there is those rubber skins but I really don't like that extra layer. I'm not worried about protection as much as the greasy feeling the phone gets after a days use.

There's a guy on here who painted his 8700 (v I think) and it looked pretty cool. Took it from the metallic blue look to a black.

Did he take the entire phone apart, and paint the shell, or just mask the phone off and paint it?

And do you know if he sanded it?

I can't seem to get the chrome side panels off without damaging them. Any tips?

Was following the dissassembly guide via the FAQ.

I think the only way not to dent the side is to be really careful.

Yes, you have to remove the screws.
