Hi there everybody,

After a bit of searching on this forum I couldn't find the answer to my problem so I though I'd create a new thread for it. When I plugged my 2 week old Pearl into my computer to do the OS update it would always hang during the "Checking device ROM", throw up an "Unexpected Error" and quit. Nothing would update. I checked and I'm using Desktop Manager 4.2 and (what I believe to be) the latest OS for the Pearl.

Next I used JL_CMDR to wipe it, thinking it could be a software problem with the Pearl. Nope, same thing. Still tossing up the same error when trying to update but now I have a blank Pearl that just displays the 507 error.

I'm going to try and talk to AT&T soon to see if they can't reinstall it for me but is there anything you guys would recommend I try?

Do you have the most recent version of Desktop Manager (4.2 SP2)?

I believe so, when I go to the "About" menu in DM it only says 4.2 (nothing about service packs). I tried downloading the latest one from RIM but when I double clicked the .exe it said something to the tune of "Blah blah blah is not a valid Win32 application".
