YOUR LOCATION AND ROUTE INFORMATION

For TeleNav to provide the TeleNav Service, TeleNav must record your route information, including your point of origin, the address of your destination, the starting time of your trip, and the route you are instructed to follow, and must periodically receive your GPS location from the GPS hardware associated with your wireless device.

In using the TeleNav Service, you allow TeleNav to access your GPS hardware and otherwise obtain this location and route information, and to record, compile and display such information internally. Such information is subject to TeleNav’s privacy policy located at Voice directions on your GPS phone: TeleNav. Your use of the TeleNav Service indicates that you accept the terms of TeleNav’s privacy policy.
This is unsettling to me does anyone else find this a bit weird??? Why would they need my route and location info?????

They don't need it. They want it.
They're also giving you advanced notice and asking your permission to collect it.
You don't have to agree to it unless you want to use their service.

I suspect they gather historical data for their own internal use. They probably use this data to evaluate route generation and to find ways to improve upon their already outstanding navigation assistance.

Should you be paranoid about it? Probably not, but that's your call.

Wirelessly posted (8310; The Juggernaut)

And so that their product can determine correctly your trip ETA and othe information the product delivers. For instance, for TN to know estimate your ETA, they would need to know you time of departure, location, gps location along the route, and so on.
