Default blackberry 8520 not detacting ad-hoc wifi connection from laptop

My laptop is connected to cable internet, and by creating an ad-hoc connection, you actually can share wi-fi access to wireless devices WITHOUT a router. in short, my laptop also serves as the router.

Now, my iPhone has no problems detecting the wifi signal from my laptop and I'm able to connect to the internet on the iPhone. However, my BB 8520 can't detect the wifi signal at all.
