Default Open an e-mail .txt attachment

Please Login to Remove!

I have just switched for a Storm2 to the Tour 9630, Verizon and am running the latest OS. I cannot open an attachment (.txt file) and cannot seem to locate any software or applications that can open by directly clicking on attachment.

Receive a message that states that Blackberry cannot open this type of file.

Is there a solution?

Thanks for your help.

It sounds like "documents to go" is missing from your Blackberry. You may have missed checking that when you installed the OS

"The latest OS" What does that mean? What version?

You should be able to open TXT files directly in the Messaging Application.

Also, you should be able to open TXT files with the File Browser.

Please update your profile. It still shows 8830. It's helpful if you add your OS to your profile also.

Updated profile and software version. When opening a .txt attachment,
the message is "This attachment type cannot be viewed on your device".

Are you on a BIS or a BES?

Do you have the BlackBerry Attachment Service installed on the device?

BIS and I can find no Blackberry Attachment service listed in Desktop Service
v5.0.1? I downloaded v5.01 to check as I was using v5.0 and could not lacate attachment service listed either?

I believe attachment service is a BES item unless the BIS server supports it.

It's not just BES.

Acutally I don't see BlackBerry Attachment Service on my 9630, but I have no trouble with attachments including text files. I do see it on my 8330.

Seems like the ability to open text files is only in the newer OS versions.. is that correct?

If you save the attachment to your media card you can then view it.

It's annoying, but I do it all the time when backup reports, etc come to me via email in .txt, .log, and other text formats as attachments.
