Default ARGH - Google talk service books not found

Please Login to Remove!

I'm having an odd problem with google talk. I had an 8707v hooked up to my corporate BES, and installed and used google talk fine. Then, I bought a 8310, and went through the switch device wizard in the blackberry software. Everything works fine, except for Google talk, which says "Service not enabled for this handheld".

I've checked the service books, and the 8707 has way more related to google and IM than the 8310 which only has 'BBFS2 [YHO]' and 'BBFS2 [BBIMConfig]' as the two that I can see are vaguely related to IM.

I called vodafone who shrugged and said it's not their problem, and I called my BES admin who explained that he doesn't manage third party service books and that I should be able to get them from Google.

I've wiped and reactivated the device a few times, but the problem persisits. Is there anything I can do to make this work?

Thanks

My response may not be what you are seeking. I found that getting these items is hit or miss. I ended up shelling out the $19.99 for Jive Talk. Just a thought.

I just upgraded the software to the 4.5 version from vodafone.de. Still no dice. It worked so well before :(

Did you rely on the switch device wizard to handle Google Talk (I've never used it) or did you install it yourself on the 8310?

Tossing additional variables into the mix is not the best way to troubleshoot (and that applies regardless of what you're troubleshooting). I'd seriously advise you to downgrade.
