Blank incoming emails when attachments are present
Please Login to Remove!
I am using an 8700g with tmo/gmail, os 4.1.0.346.
For the past few months, whenever I get an email with an attachment, there is a 90% chance that the text in the body of the email does not show up on my blackberry. If I log into my gmail account and check the same email, there could be paragraphs of text that I missed. It only seems to be doing this when there are attachments to the email.
Anyone else having this problem?
I am not using gmail forwarding and not on BES.
ANY advice would be so helpful.

I also see the same thing. I find it very annoying. It also happens when an e-amil is forwarded sometimes. I think you just need to download more.
Actually you're right I just checked and it seems an e-mail I received this morning had an attachment and all the text from the e-mail is missing on the BB.

Download more option doesn't work for me as the body of the email is actually blank.
Anyone else have this problem or know of any way to fix it? It has made my blackberry almost unusable for the past few months since I can't read the body of emails with attachments.

Wirelessly posted (8700g: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)
Does anyone know if this problem started with a particular OS release so I can downgrade to a prior release?

Did anybody find a solution to this problem? I think this happens when somebody forwards a message with an attachment. Body text disappears making the whole thing useless...

Solution: call your wireless provider, describe the problem, tell them open ticket with RIM.

Can't explain why but I do not have that problem with my Cingular 8700. Software V4.1.0.377.
Messages, both company BES and personal pop3, with file attachments are always normal.
The same was true with my previous Blackberry, a 7290.
I agree with the suggestion from Berry One above....call T-mo and let them get you an answer from RIM.

I'm having the same problem. I'm not sure if it happens with my corporate e-mail, but it happens with my GMail. I'm on a BES and my GMail is not being forwarded. T-mo with latest software.

Weird.
Does it seem to have anything to do with how large the file attachment is?

Low Memory?
I had this problem with my new 8703e and it was resolved by deleting a large number of emails that I had. My IT administrator suggested at the time I had too many emails, and was out of memory. I haven't had the problem since.

Actually, I've wondered the same thing. Sometimes if I get an email with a word or PDf file, it works fine. Then if I get sent a file that I know is a little larger in size, it won't work. I have to wait to download the email at work.

Just to clarify, and maybe I'm the only one here, but the problem for me isn't the attachment itself - I can get the attachments just fine, but the text in the actual e-mail message is missing. The first line in the message is just "application: multipart/mixed" and the second line is "application: imate5.jpg" or whatever the actual attachment is. But the actual body of the message is gone, even though I can see the attachments just fine. If I log into GMail, though, I can read an entire paragraph that was in the e-mail which didn't show up on the handheld.
And I've been lazy and haven't called T-Mo...hopefully I'll get around to it this week.

I too have the same problem. I am running 4.1.0.194. It does not work with either my IMAP address I have set up, or the mycingular.blackberry.net account either. The attachment however, appears just fine. Anyone find a fix for this yet?

Happens to me from time to time as well, but on my corporate BES. I get an email with the whole body or part of it missing.
For me, it seems to only occur with certain senders, so it may have to do with how their emails get formatted and the blackberry's ability to read it. For example, in the last message I got, someone had indented a list of items from 1 to 4 like this:
************
Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body :
___[tab]___1. Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text
___[tab]___2. Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text
___[tab]___3. Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text
___[tab]___4. Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text
Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body
************
On my blackberry it showed up as
************
Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body :
1.2.3.4. (no text)
Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body Body
************
When I check the same message on my Lotus notes desktop at work, the whole message looks file, but the font is not our default one. So it may just have to do with some formatting issues, rather than a memory one.
