My bro has a 8700 through Cingular. I hoped on his BB today and noticed his net is faster then mine (I have a Sprint 8703e) We both are using the BB browser. The only thing I can think of is, he is using his through his company, which might have enterprise activation. Would this make sense?

Yes sometimes BES is supposed to be faster. There are some detailed threads on EDGE vs EVDO. There is something called latency too. EVDO is much much faster for tethering though.
