Calendar Items (Wireless) - Not Sync
Please Login to Remove!
Hello all, I hope I have the right forum....
Details:
BB Models, 6750,7750 (Bell)
Using BES Server
DM v4.0 and OS v4.0
PROBLEM:
The Calendar doesn't remove items from the BB Calendar when removed from the Desktop. We are using Wireless Calendar.
What happends if we added an item to the Calendar on the desktop, it shows up on the BB, but if it's changed or removed on the Desktop it then doesn't pass that on to the BB Calendar.
I have tried wiping the Calendar and then letting it re-download, it then has the right Calendar info, but then eventually it will start doing the same.
I also tried resets and such as well as re generating the encryption key. This seemd to have solved the problem for a bit but then the symptoms came back.
Is this a problem on the BES? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

It seems that this is a problem with the new BES server 4.0. I'm using Lotus Notes with BES 4.0 server (New Server). We have the same problem. Give RIM a call when you have the problem again.

Interesting, I know our BES ADmin guys are going to be in contact with RIM. Hopefully a solution is found as it's quite annoying.
Thanks for your info.

For you admins out there....or to pass along to your admins...
Do a quick check on what versions of cdo.dll are on your Exchange server and your BlackBerry Enterprise Server. If they are different, copy the newest to all machines.
Calendar synching is a bit different than synching everything else.

Thanks!
ZRO, you just saved my day. I've been putting off troubleshooting this for some time now, but we're got almost 30 users on Blackberries and it is getting too difficult to support the USB synch.
Thanks a lot!

We are having the same problem.
BES 4.0 on Windows 2000 Server SP4
Exchange Server 2003 on Windows 2003 Server
BB Handheld OS 4.0.0.117
Occassionally, when deleting a single instance of a recurring appointment from the Outlook client, the deletion doe not replicate to the BB.
This is very frustrating as it is intermittent. I have not been able to reproduce this using the BlackBerry belonging to client in question (that client being the president of our University - crap!).
RIM had us rename any other instances of cdo.dll and verify versions across servers (BES and Exchange). Everything looked good. Lastly, we reregistered cdo.dll.
I doubt this fixed the problem.
Any more thoughts???

Known Issues - Calendar entry not deleted on handheld after delegate reschedules meeting
Last Modified: 24 November 2004
Article Number: KB-03567
RIM says they are aware of the problem, no fix yet.
THAT SUCKS! This is a BIG BUG as people have meeting requests and such that don't exist on their BB's and they are getting pissed off because they are going places for nothing.
tsk tsk tsk

Tell me about it...I wouldn't be surprised if our senior staff stops using the BB... In their eyes, if it doesn't work 1% of the time...it doesn't work...period.
These folks are so attached to their calendars...
Hope RIM gets this fixed soon...

I'm wondering if removing delegate rights may be a work around. What if you actuallly made the delegate the "owner" of the calendar? Would that change how the BES and Exchange see the change? Owner instead of Delegate? Just a thought.

Service Pack Fixes
Looks like the recent service pack that came out may fix the delegate issue.
On a separate note...RIM told us that when the memory gets full on the HH "expect the unexpected". That's just not acceptable. Design the device so that everything isn't running in RAM all the time.
We have applied the service pack and shall see what that does...

sorry to state the obvious, but just in case it helps a random soul...
if anyone else is editing the Blackberry user's folders (Inbox, Calendar, Contacts, etc.), such as the user's secretary, they will never reconcile from Outlook to the BB. This is because the sync process compares active items to deleted items in the user's box for reconciliation.
If someone else is cleaning up your BB user's items, it will go to "someone else's" deleted items box and get orphaned by the BB.
