T-Mobile 7290
Please Login to Remove!
I just got off the phone with a T-Mobile who recommended me to wait for the 7290 instead of purchasing the 7730. She said that the inital launch was scheduled for early this month but now things are poiting towards the end. Now my question is should I wait for the MDA IV http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000980030864/ or just purchase the 7290... ![Confused](http://www.blackberryforums.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif)

IMO, it boils down to price and timeline.
T-Mobile US didn't carry the MDA II, MDA III or MDA Compact, so I doubt they'll carry the MDA IV, which means you'll have to pay a hefty premium to get it from another source. Also, who knows when it'll really be released?
I think T-Mobile gave you good advice regarding waiting for the 7290 -- it's faster than the 7730, had BlueTooth, and IMO, "feels better" in hand.

Before you get an MDA IV, make sure to check the "Why BlackBerry?" section of my BlackBerry FAQ in my signature below.

I've been given a date of 9 March for the rollout of the T-Mobile 7290. Could be corporate customers first, but that's the date I was given.

Yes, they are now being made available to business accounts it would seem. All of tmobile's support (including business cust. care) still lists them as "in training" and won't really support them much. We got a few at my company, I'm using one and it is working great so far.
Note the CD that ships with it ONLY has the desktop manager and no handheld update - so if you wipe your BB you cannot reload it, that is until I found this handy URL:
http://www.t-mobileapps.com/download...m?selDevice=14
It's not linked anywhere from the main tmobile site that I found, all I did was play with the URL a bit to find new devices
Interesting they have an IM app on that page you can download - I have not personally used it, since I already bought VeriChat, but I did load it for a user today and all I can say is the graphics looked nice and it looked a lot better than the t-zones AIM. It will do AIM, Yahoo, ICQ, but no MSN.

Tried the IM app, it runs fine on my 7230, graphics look awesome and it is a whole lot better than the t-zones IM, but after a while of exchanging messages, you'll get a message that the SIM card is full, eventhough I don't store my messages on my SIM card.

I work for T-Mobile and I'm still having trouble getting the 7290 sent out to me. It definitely is "in training" status.

Yeah, it appears that every message that you send and receive are composed of txt messages which you actually get charged if you don't have any plan for it. It is really frustrating that the IM software is only made for the 7290. I hope they make it available for the 7730.

Come on now...is it really available or just "Available". If you have to beg, borrow, and steal to get something how is it available. When I can go into a store and get it, then to this guy it will truely be available.

I was wondering how everyone finds the 7100T from Venicom. Would you rather purchase the BB that way with the innumerable rules or buy it direct from T-mobile for $200.00. That is rather than free with the $100 rebate?

They've dropped - my rep got it for me for $99 and all I had to do was add the $19.95 data plan. Even got free next day shipping. ![Smiley](http://www.blackberryforums.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
