Simply, had the BB for 2/3 days, tried updating it yesterday ... computer restarted ( as it does ) and now the blackberry 8520 wont start, the only sign of life being the red flashing LED.

Before you panic too much, remove the battery...and wait 5 minutes. Then reinstall battery. Let us know what happens. (It was charged right?)

I have a 9530 Storm. I also was trying to update to OS 5.0, and you brower went down (thanks Microsoft) and now I have a flashing red LED. Took the Battery out and when replaced still flashed. Help

OK - hopefully you have a recent backup of the 9530.

I suggest wiping it out using JL_CMDER - which will remove all apps and any pieces of the OS that are installed and then reloading the OS..
