You can use it on Nextel only. The iDen technology is only compatible with Nextel (and maybe a fringe carrier somewhere).

Pretty much, yes.
The only other "major" carrier it could be used on if unlocked is Southern LiNC.

I've seen ads online about people selling Verizon Blackberrys unlocked, this isn't possible either is it? unless its possible to put a Verizon Blackberry on Sprint since they are both CDMA ?

AFAIK, CDMA carriers only allow their devices on their network, at least in the US.

Cricket will activate other CDMA carriers' devices, but neither Sprint nor Verizon (the only two CDMA carriers of consequence in the US) will.

I do know of some small companies that will activate Verizon phones on their network, but this is a little off subject of the discussion about the iDEN network lol

Right. We were simply answering your question as you had initially taken us off-topic. ![Smile](http://www.blackberryforums.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Whenever, I try turning on my 7100i, It give me "JBV Error 102". does anyone know what it mean. Is that because I don't have NExtel/Sprint service?

That means an invalid .cod file. Have you loaded any 3rd party applications or themes recently on your device?

Do you have a backup of your data?
Can you get past the JVM error at all? If so, go to Options > Security Options > General Settings > Press the trackwheel > Wipe Handheld.
If not, your best bet is reloading the OS on the 7100. JL_Cmder has the option to reset to factory defaults, but it only works with devices running 4.3 and up.

Time to reload the OS - you can't wipe the device to fix it.

At the end of the upgrade I get this error message "The desktop loader is unable to connect to the device. You may need to enter the password on the device"
My device is connected. I don't have any password and there is no message on the device to enter the password.

iDEN is not a very popular technology anymore. Your phone will not work over seas. There is no way to convert iDEN to GSM.
