Question My phone is bricked?

Please Login to Remove!

Yesterday my phone rebooted out of the blue and now it only boots to say 60% and then it hangs (the progress bar stops at the "e" in blackberry). I have read the threads about how to gain control again using JL-Cmder and or running the loader with the /nojvm option. I tried all on 2 computers (Windows 7 and XP), but the computer does for some reason not recognize the phone. I installed my provider's OS and also the latest version of DM as well as separately the USB drivers (you cannot be too sure...).
So it looks like my phone is a brick unless I did miss something. I tried booting with a bp and then when the light is still red connect to PC, even when the loader was up and waiting for the NEXT button to be pressed as suggested in another thread. I tried all suggestions, but no luck so far. Does anyone know what else I can try. I am desperate to get my BB back to life...

All suggestions welcome,
Thank you, thank you, thank you...

I can only suggest keep trying. And remove the media card just in case. (EDIT: Afterthought... Are you sure your battery has not gone bad?)
I've read over and over again of cases of people having to try a dozen or more times to get the timing right.

Unless you dropped the blackberry and caused physical damage, or got it wet, I think it is highly likely you can recover it.

Default Solution...

I think you should take out the sim card and memory card out of your blackberry. Then try doing it again. Make sure you download the latest OS from your carrier (tmobile, att, sprint, etc...) and not from other sites. let me know what happens.

Does sound like OS corruption. I would say unless the battery is bad you have nothing to loose by trying JL_cmdr. Just be very sure you read the instructions and FOLLOW them to the letter. Also it takes time so be ready to do this and spend the time.

Also connect the BB to the PC first.

I had that problem with a reboot stopping at about the same place as yours. Updating the OS completely fixed it up. Am I understanding you correctly that when you run loader.exe or DM it does not recognize your blackberry? How long have you had the phone?

Default Fixed... it was the cable that did the trick...

I fixed the issue on connecting my phone to my PC. After many, many tries I was about to give in and call my provider ans ask for a new phone (it was still under warranty), when I tried my co-workers cable... and then I heard that sweet "USB Connect Sound" and I knew my problem was fixed. I wiped the phone and re-installed the OS. Now it works again... Happy BB user again. Even the Enterprise activation started without delay when my BB connected to the network. All set... I learned a lot in the effort to get my BB working again. Now I am even trying to load a non provider specific OS on my BB. (And yes, I am removing the Vendor.xml file... )

Thanks for you answers and information!

Excellent!
Patience and a high tolerance for frustration pays off big time.

Ah, the cable. Sometimes it's the most fundamental things that we tend to overlook when trying to fix a problem. Glad you got it fixed.

As we use to say back when I was in network infrastructure... "80% of all network failures are cable related" Glad you are back on track.
