The call log deletion is due to space limits which may be caused by too many Apps or other data you loaded, emails etc.

KB12131-Maximum number of Phone Call Log entries on the BlackBerry smartphone

KB02843-What is the Low Memory Manager feature on the BlackBerry smartphone

thanks for your help tsac, ive deleted a lot of stuff, but im guessing there is no way i can retrieve it now, my call list goes back to around the beginning of september but i need to find a number i missed from the middle of august.

ironically i can get missed calls from january, but in june/july i put a lot of pics etc on the phone so you are probably correct when you say that is why they havent saved from that time

is there no way i can get it?

thanks

Once deleted unless you have some type of backup it's doubtful.
Some carriers allow retrieval of calls made/received. If it's really important you can try your carrier.
