Default Nextel 7510 crashing after loading 4.0

Please Login to Remove!

I have just loaded the 4.0 software from Blackberry's website for my Nextel 7510. After I installed the handheld software the phones appears to operate fine. However if I reboot the phone or if the phone crashes when the phone comes back up it will just hang at boot up with an hourglass. I can wipe the phone clean by selecting an advanced install from the application loader and then clear all the data out that way. However it is a pain in the butt to have to do this each time the phone resets and if I'm on the road I'm screwed!

Is there a way I can find out what the phone is hanging up on boot up? What might the boot up process be?

I have the 7510 and haven't had this problem. Can you do a fresh install (like reinstalling XP over XP is there is a boot problem)?

Ya, I've tried that and it still appears to sit there for awhile and never come up. I'm going to try and reload the O/S on the phone again two of my tech's just loaded the update and their phones are working okay, I'll give it a shot.

4 of our IT guys have the 4.0 software loaded on the 7510, 3 of them have had no problem at all. However, the 4th has the same problem that you are talking about and has replaced the device with a refurbished one and still had the problem. nextel does not have an answer other than getting a new device.

Default 4.0 Software

Well the 1 phone that had the issue, did you let it backup the phone data and then restore the data? I re-updated the firmware on the phone and this time took all the all the defaults and it actually worked this time. The only difference is this time I let the install backup / restore the software. Also come to think of it we did NOT un-install the 3.8 software we just let the 4.0 install upgrade the 3.8 desktop manager.

Would be interested to see how you ran the update.[/quote]
