Default Very Frustrated and could use some help :-(

Please Login to Remove!

Hey All,

This is my first post here on the forums, but I have been looking for a week or two. I just got a BB BOLD from a reputable guy off of eBay. I got the phone, opened it up, and everything was in there.

Now the interesting thing is when I send an email it says "Sent from my BlackBerry Bold on T-Mobile" or something like that. I forgot to mention I have to go through the AOL website to check/send emails. I tried to set it up with the phone but the phone does not give me the option to set up a personal account it only says "I want to use a work email account with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server." Is there any way possible to set up a personal email account? I tried to do it online with att.com/blackberrystart and I didn't get anywhere.

This is very frustrating for me as I need the email access for school. Can anyone help me? Was this phone truely "New In Box and never used before?"

Thank you for taking the time to read all of this and also for all of your help in advance.

Mike

Welcome to the forums.

To remove/edit your signature, follow these steps: How do I edit the "Sent from my BlackBerry®..." message? - BlackBerryFAQ

What happens when you try to create email account? You should be able to create an account here : BlackBerry Internet Service

If you're unable to, contact the previous seller and have him remove the BIS account from the device.

Wow, thank you for such a quick response! I went to the site and was able to add my email account, what do I do next? Just go into messages? Or should I be able to set up an account now?

Thanks again for all the help!

Once you're logged into the site, and you've added the email account(s) that you wanted to (you're allotted up to 10), then click the link for service books, and resend your service books. You should then see a new icon for each of the email accounts you've entered.

Ok so I sent the service books and it said that it sent them successfully. I take it the icons would appear on the phone? Would this happen instantaneously or should I give it a few minutes? Nothing has happened so far. Is there anyway that I can go through AT&T to fix this? Also, just in case he doesn't know what he's doing what does he need to do to remove his BIS from his carrier? I was definitely told that this phone was brand new in the box and never used...would this be true?

If you were able to create an account, then he doesn't need to do anything.

It should be almost instant depending on your coverage. Are you on EDGE or 3G right now? Capital letters. You may need to do a battery pull. Also, do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan?

"Are you on EDGE or 3G right now?" I'm on 3G at the moment.

"Capital letters."
Capitol letters?

"You may need to do a battery pull."
Just pulling the battery out and putting it back in?

"Also, do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan?"
Yes I do have a BlackBerry Data Plan....I still don't have anything...:-/

By the way, thank you so much for helpin' me out with this I DEFINITELY appreciate it.

The capital letters is for EDGE, if you see edge, you won't have data service, EDGE (in capital letters) indicates data.

Yes, just pop the battery out. Here are the steps : 1st step to take if device is having problems? - BlackBerryFAQ

You're welcome, man. Just here to give back to this community that's given the knowledge to me.

Hmm.

Try going into your messages, create a new message, go to the Send Using option at the top and see what addresses you can select there. See if they all show up or not.

When I go into the new messages it just says "No message services configured. you Will only be able to Save Draft." I click ok and there is an open screen that says

CC:
Subject:
and then open space to write the message...I can't find anything that says what you said...

You don't have any accounts on the device yet.

Try going into Options, Advance Options, Host Routing table. Is anything listed there?

While in that screen, press the menu key and select register now.

Try registering it by pressing the menu key and selecting Register now. You should get a message saying that the registration message has been sent.

Check the host routing table again in a minute to see if you have any entries in there. If there isn't anything in there. I would call AT&T and verify the BlackBerry data plan hasn't been removed from your account.

It doesn't look like AT&T signed me up for a BlackBerry Data plan. However, when I went to sign up for the BB Data plan it says that I don't have a compatible device....Looks like I will end up at AT&T afterall....Thanks a lot for your help man..If you're ever on the Philly side of the state let me know and I'll buy ya a cheesesteak!
