Remove VZW Navigator. That has been the #1 reason for lag on the Storm. Update to the latest OS. Try those and see what it does for you. Congrats on your Storm!

Are you running the software update of v4.7.0.75 (platform 4.0.0.94)? This is available on your phone to download. Go to options > advanced options > wireless upgrade

That's cool, it takes a while to complete the whole thing. Somewhere around at least an hour. So be patient... Good luck.

wireless upgrade checks for the latest upgrade for your Storm and checks if your device needs it or not. It's found in the tool button looks like a wrench that's "Options" then go to Advanced Options then scroll all the way down you should see it there....

I did the entire upgrade on my Storm never used my desktop pc for anything! v.75 is the official Verizon upgrade available using the "wireless upgrade" feature on the phone. I haven't tried using other advance "beta" upgrades I just think that may cause problems with my Storm in the future. You can give it a shot though...

Find the "wireless upgrade" feature yet?....lol

I would try the link above, works very well and speads it up a bit. I won't hurt anything.

I have to add that I agree with the whole removing VZNav, it does make a difference IMO.

I second that notion! I'm pretty sure VZ Nav took a lot of resources. Looks like the device for me is a little smoother and faster now.

Thumbs down Is VZ Nav really the problem?

I am curious why people are suggesting that a program that is not running is causing a problem. I have, from time to time, inadvertently activated VZ Nav and if it is running in background it would use resources. But what is the logic of a program that is not running using resources?

Further, why is it that when I use VZ Nav, I get calls and e-mails while it is running, and there is no lag that I can spot.

You can tell when the GPS receiver is on by checking BBMaps and whenever I turn BBMaps on, the GPS is off unless I already have VZ Nav running. 73

Plenty of programs cause the phone to be slow, or lag. It uses up the phones memory (ram) and will get quicker with a reboot, just to let ya know
