Default GPS gone bad

Please Login to Remove!

simple, gps wont work, I have an 8800 from at&t cingular. i am outside in many open areas, where i click on start gps but it keeps searching for satelites forever! it used to work, the only thing i could think of that i have changed in my phone since then is that I called my service provider and told them to shut off my data plan, because i got charged $150 extra for using google maps, but blackberry maps always used to work, but now it doesn't.

Any ideas? The data plan doesnt affect the GPS right? I thought it was built-in?

the GPS is built in, but to use BBmaps, google maps, teleNav, mapquest navigator, etc, you need a data plan.

If you want to see your lat/long, go to Options-Advanced Options-GPS-Menu-Refresh GPS.

If you do that in an open area and it refreshes with your new coordinates, GPS is working.

Tried that.,.Have a Verizon plan with the 8830 BB and I don't see that option for the GPS..only have location on/911 with the former set as default
Maybe Verizon opts not to allow that..

Verizon only allows use of the built-in GPS after you have subscribed to VZ Navigator software.

Yep, with no data plan, the gps doesn't do much good.
