I just went out and bought a 2.5 to 3.5 stereo converter for my pearl. I would love to use my pearl as a mp3 player on my upcoming trip.

I currently have 0 mp3's in my music folder on my microsd. However I have like 10 mp3 ringtones.

When i play a ringtone(mp3 located in ringtone folder) with the adapter in the headphone jack, I still hear the ringtone coming from the speaker on the phone.

Is the audio adapter locked to the "music" folder on my micro sd? or does my adapter not work at all?
