Question BIS service

Please Login to Remove!

Hello:

I have a 3rd party that we get MS Exchange Email from, and I am trying to set it up on my BB, the 3rd party Exchange Email provider said we should disable the BIS service from my BB provider (TELUS Mobility Canada).

Am I able to diable this or do I have to contact TELUS?

Big enought font???

You probably have to do an Enterprise Activation so you will be on their BES, which will remove you from the Telus BIS, although I think you need an Enterprise plan instead of an Internet plan, not a 100% on that part.

Yes you will need a BES plan through your carrier which will remove the BIS plan.

I just thought if he has a data plan through a carrier and does an EA he is set. He may be able to setup his old service using the POP setup??

Hi Everyone, I am very new to this I have only had my blackberry for 2 days, can you please write this in "English"... I use Link2Exchange for my Exchange Email, how can I set it up that it works with the Enterprise Activation, Link2Exchange send me this email: "Hi Robert,
I believe that is happening because you are not sending the mail through our BES. You are utilizing your cell providers email service, this could be conflicting with our service. Messages that come to your device from our server will show in the messages section of your device. I have again reset your account on the server, please get your other email service disabled on the device and then enterprise activate: (Log in info here)"

Can someone contact me and guide me step by step please.

Wirelessly posted (8100 Pearl)

I operate on a large BES and when I first got my phone I did my EA without a problem and then set up my BIS. Whis worked just fine. Now I can decide which email I want to use to send emails through.

In order to get your BES to activate you may have to temporary remove your BIS stuff and the do your EA.

You can reinstall your BIS after.

In order to get you BES working you may also have to connect your BB to your PC through DTM and then do the EA activation. Leave it connected long enough for it to push out the BES service books and the service syncing etc that it needs to do. You should be able to see the progress of this on the BB itself.

Wait, you don't want to disable the Telus BES, but the BIS, right?

Call Telus and say "I want to get a BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Plan) on my account and I want to cancel the BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service)".

To cancel and add service, no.

They charge you for the BIS and/or BES service.

Have you called them yet?

I believe you will need a BES data plan from Telus.

Have you called your carrier?

Link2Exchange provides the hosting service but Telus will still be the one to provide your BES. You will have to pay them both: Telus for the data plan and Link2Exchange for the hosting service.

I have a unlimted email dataplan with TELUS, and for Link2Exchange I have my Exchange Email Hosting, so I need to disable the BIS right? Will that then let me set up the Outlook SYNC with Link2Exchange?

Robert, have you yet read the answers in this thread?

With Telus, to use Link2Exchange, you will need a BES plan.

Robert,

I'm on Telus as well.

The plan you are on now is a BIS plan. This is completely different from BES.
If you call Telus and ask them for BES they will charge you an INSANE fee. For 45 bucks, I think you get 4mb of data.. Or something like that.

Your problem WILL NOT be resolved until you call Telus and ask them for a BES plan. But once you do, they are going to say that you have to cancel out of your current unlimited email plan. This is because your unlimited Email plan is based off BIS which has nothing to do with BES.

So forget trying to get Link2Exchange working with your current data plan. It won't work. You need a BES plan. And for that, Telus will charge you $$$$$.

Once Telus tells you their insane BES rates, tell them that as of August 12th, Rogers, Telus's competitor is selling BES for $45 for 300mb per month. Then maybe Telus will cut you a deal. Good Luck!

Good Luck

That actually shouldn't be necessary.
