Default Simulscribe/PhoneTag Problems on Tour

Please Login to Remove!

Has anyone had any success getting the Phonetag interface working on the Tour? I just switched over from the Bold and have been a happy PhoneTag user for years and since installing it on the Tour I haven't been able to actually listen to a message, other than that everything works fine, it notifies me of new voicemails and organizes their transcripts but when you enter a message and try and click the play button the phone locks up necessitating a battery pull.

I have un-installed and re-installed numerous times and the same problems occur, any advice?

I had used the Simulscribe client with the Phonetag service for 2 years very happily. But after 2 years I realized that there were bugs that drove me crazy. Very serious bugs, such as all the messages reloading themselves and freezing the device.

I emailed and called support 4 times over 2 years and they never got back to me. Finally, one day I read a review on the new Youmail transcription service and Blackberry client. It was supported, frequently updated, and the company responded to inquiries.

So, I canceled my Phonetag service, and low and behold customer service emailed me asking how they could get me back as a customer. I had to dump them to get talked to. They offered me this beta program that would be cheeper in the long run monthly but would sacrifice quality. I said I would give it a shot. Then when I followed up, they said that the new service that they are going to roll out won't work with the Simulscribe client and there were no plans to update it.

So, with that I canceled the beta and went with Phonetag. It works awesome with my Tour, it doesn't screw up my device like Simulscribe did on 4.5 and the Youmail service is much faster overall at transcribing the messages.

So, while I can't help you get Simulscribe to work, I would recommend you head to the Blackberry app store and get the Youmail client. It has all the features of Simulscribe and more.

Cool thanks for the tip-- looks like my new voicemail software, considering that its cheaper than PhoneTag and you get more transcriptions!

Only remaining question is how do you configure notification for YouMail? Its not in the alerts/tones section of profiles like PhoneTag was, although it must be somewhere since a new voicemail results in a flashing LED... is there a way to add an audible alert?
