If your thinkin about going from a tour to a bold don't

I liked the 9630 until the lag just started getting to me, tried everything and pretty much just came to conclusion the tour like most blackberries no matter what network or phone are slow. Got a 9650 for cheap so I was thinking maybe if I switch the lag would go away, nope double the memory really doesn't mean much. My gf has a tour refurb and it's almost exactly the same speed.
The problem with RIM is that the OS sucks, it's not the apps or memory it's just a crappy os. This will be my last blackberry ever I don't care what they do or come out with. They will always be light years behind android and ios.
If your on sprint like me and have a tour just keep it, if you even remotly like that phone keep it or get something other than the bold. And the style sucks so not really very many bb choices.

Update to the latest official release from Sprint. OS6 is more responsive, and while you may not think that the Bold is a worthy upgrade, I now have wifi. If only it had voip!

Re: If your thinkin about going from a tour to a bold don't
My 9650 is very snappy. No lag at all, and it's my favorite BB that I've ever owned. I can't help but think that when complaints like the OP's come along, it's because of user error. Loading it up with tons of crap apps, taking up all the free initernal memory, and then whining about it.
BlackBerrys are not for everyone. And while they can do some multimedia stuff, it's clearly not the use for which they were designed.

I've not had issues with my 9650 even before I upgraded to OS6. And I also like the Style I have for work.
To each his own.

if your thinking about switching from a 9630 Tour to a 9650 Bold do so. I did and the 9650 Bold is the best phone I have ever owned. Absolutely no problems what so ever

Not sure what OP is talking about. Of all my upgrades 9650 is the best. 9650/6.0.0.415 is rocking, OS5 ran sharp as well.

Go ahead and make the move to Android or iOS...if you dont get tons of email or need the inherent Blackberry productivity gains you will be fine. I switched to the EVO for about 5 months and loved it....problem was I was less and less responsive. Back to the 9650 and better than ever.

Re: If your thinkin about going from a tour to a bold don't
You guys aren't going to tell me os6 is snappier than os5 on the 9650, that's not even possible. And the reason I'm complaining is just open up your browser on your phone and go to a webpage, then do it on another smartphone, BB gets last place. How many times do you have to reboot your phone in week, look how long it takes to reboot. Hate the optical pad. I don't know what snappy means to u guys an iphone4 is snappy, and samsung epic is snappy. Blackberry os5 was kinda snappy. Any just waiting till sprint announces and releases new phones.
Not riding this sinking ship anymore just for a keyboard.

Re: If your thinkin about going from a tour to a bold don't
I just got my 9650 about a month or so ago <Verizon>. Very nice device. I also own a 4th generation iPod Touch. At the present time I don't want to combine the two. We're fixin' to get iPhone on Verizon. I was considering that but find the performance of the BB to be excellent for what I use. I consider the BB to be more of a workhorse device and the iPod for entertainment. At least that's how I divide the load.
As far as phones go (I've had a number of 'em) the BB is one of the best I've used.

I like OS6, although not the theme.
It's plenty fast as a browser.
I reboot my phone about once a week, not because I have to, but just as a matter of course. And it reboots far faster with OS6 compared to OS5.
The optical track pad is far superior to the track ball. No comparison.
I think the 9650 is the best blackberry yet.

Re: If your thinkin about going from a tour to a bold don't
I don't know what you guys are smokin but it must be good, I have tried now three blackberry bolds, to whoever thinks this is fast as a browser I wonder how you define fast and compared to what another blackberry. There is no phone I know of as slow as this. The new webkit browser is almost worst as now I have to zoom in to pages and in order to do that I have to wait about 2 min.
Now since sprint really wants to screw us all by charging for a 3g phone an extra 10 dollars I guess I'm stuck with this crap for a while. I'm really considering going back to the tour I hate OS6 and the optical stuff. Who here thinks os6 is snappy? Snappy is when I click on something and it actully opens up and I don't have to wait 30 secs.

Re: If your thinkin about going from a tour to a bold don't
OS6 is nothing to get excited about that is for sure. If I had a 9700 after using this 9780 I would go back to OS5.
I just hate the side motion getting those window, frequent, media, favorites, downloads, All. very redundant and not very user friendly. Hopefully we will get some themes someday that will cure that issue. I would agree the phone is quicker opening stuff, and I find that I can hear calls much better and clearer which is huge for me as I have some hearing damage. I switched carriers so got the new phone but my tour 9630 was and is great and I had zero issues with it.

Completely agree with this. It's a terrible theme. I keep looking in the themes section for something new.
